FAREWELL TO COLONEL MUÑOZ MOMPO AND HIS WIFE ANA LOPEZ-CERON

At noon today, the lunch offered by the Asociación de Meigas in honor of Aviation Colonel Manuel Muñoz Mompó and his wife Ana was held at the El Corte Inglés Restaurant López-Cerón, on the occasion of his recent transfer to Madrid.

Colonel Muñoz Mompó has held the command of the Santiago Military Aerodrome for the past three and a half years, maintaining a very fluid relationship with the Meigas Association ever since of the Bonfires of San Juan.

At lunch, in addition to the honorees, the Marine Corps Brigadier General, Carlos Pérez-Urruti, Commander of the Army Protection Force; the Defense Delegate in Galicia, Colonel Antonio Bernal; the Naval Commander of La Coruña, Captain of the Ship Ramón Fernández Borra and the head of the Coruña Civil Guard Command, Colonel Javier Jambrina, as well as members of the Board of Directors of the Meigas Association and the Promoting Commission, friends and collaborators.

To the desserts, after reading the act of appointment as Ana López-Cerón’s Honorary Major Meiga, the President of the Meigas Association, Mª Concepción Astray, presented the title that accredits her as such, stating that she welcomed the group of women from A Coruña who have been working for the feast of Saint John in our city for years; Likewise, she thanked Colonel Muñoz Mompó for his friendship and the attentions and affection he always showed to the Meigas Association. At the conclusion of her words, the President gave the Colonel a reproduction of the image of San Juan, Patron Saint of the A Coruña bonfires.

After thanking Ana López-Cerón for her appointment, Colonel Mompó encouraged the Meigas to continue their work as keepers of the best traditions, noting that entities such as the Asociación de Meigas many are needed.
