LACK OF RESPECT WITH ANIMAL OF OFFENDING

We echo the statement issued by the Archbishopric of Santiago de Compostela in connection with the unlucky Carnival 2017 poster that, paid with the money of all the Coruñeses, believers and non-believers, edited the Tide Town Hall.

We have nothing more to add except that it is a new departure of tone of very bad taste and with a clear intention to offend and disturb the freedom of conscience of thousands of inhabitants of our city.

"Communiqué of the Archbishopric of Santiago de Compostela

14 FEB, 2017

The diocesan Church of Santiago de Compostela regrets that in the posters and the brochure edited by those responsible for the organization of Carnival 2017 in the city of Coruña, a vignette allusive to the Pope appears, using a picture of the pontiff that does not correspond With reality or any relationship with the playful celebration that is publicized.

The Archdiocese of Santiago firmly rejects this use, which hurts the sentiments of believers, may imply a mockery of the beliefs of thousands of Corunneans and offend, gratuitously, all Catholics or Catholics who feel a deep and sincere respect for the person Of the Pope.

Religious symbols, and especially figures representing all religious denominations, Catholic or not, should never be used or manipulated, even under the excuse of fun or playful occasions. "
