THE MISERABLE SECTARISM OF LA MAREA

One more year, in spite of requesting it expressly, the municipal misgovernment of the tide has denied the Association of Meigas the gratuitous cession of the Rosalía de Castro Municipal Theater, to celebrate its XVI Dance Contest of A Noite da Queima that will take place on the 24th.

The Dance Contest, an activity of socio-cultural interest, to which the different Ballets and Dance Schools of La Coruña are invited, aims for the public in A Coruña to know the work performed by young people, of both sexes, who dedicate part of their free time to the practice of dance in all its variants – Spanish, classical, contemporary, modern, etc. -. It is, therefore, an activity of clear formative aspect, this circumstance to which they make blind eyes and deaf ears the sectarians of the tide.

After having requested the cession of the theater through the established conduits, in time and form, they have not even bothered to respond, limiting themselves to telling the Association of Meigas that they will have to make effective the amount of 2,106.84 e., more ushers, if you want to make use of the theater that, by the way, is of all the people of A Coruña and not only of this gang of sectarians and their cronies.

The contest, like the previous ones, is free access, requiring only that the corresponding invitation that can be requested to the Meigas Association be withdrawn, even if it is not completed the capacity, can retire in the own box office of the theater. It is, therefore, an act of free access.

Until the arrival of the bad government of the tide, never, any Corporation, had demanded the payment of this canon to the Association of Meigas, to understand its socio-cultural purpose. However, as of 2016, the treatment given to the Meigas is the same as that given to an Entity with a profit motive that rents the space for an activity with commercial interest.

The same has not happened with other Entities in the city that, due to friendship, political sympathies or, simply, for having bowed their heads and bowed to the sectarian whims of the tide, if they have enjoyed, free of charge, the use of the Rosalía Castro theater, even allowing them to charge access to the shows organized by them.

All this, constitutes a comparative grievance and once again highlights the unworthy and petty sectarian behavior of these evil rulers of the tide that the only thing they have done, during these four dark years, is to slow down the city and turn it into a second division city.

We demand from these sectarians the same treatment they have given to others, since neither the city nor the Rosalía de Castro theater are their property, but all the people of A Coruña that we pay taxes.

However, this grievance is not only for the Association of Meigas, it is also for the world of ballet and dance of our city and for the families of the students of all Centers that teach in these disciplines.

The efforts of the Meigas Association to keep its competition alive, year after year, and if it is maintained, are largely thanks to the Xunta de Galicia and those who govern it.

The elections of next May 26 are close, as a result, the people related to those Dance Schools already know who they should not vote for.
