THE FIRE OF SAN JUAN IS ON

At 12 o'clock in the morning, the Chaplain of the Meigas Association, Ismael Velo, proceeded to light and bless the Fire of San Juan at the foot of the image of the Saint in the church of the Third Order.

The event was attended by the Meiga Mayor, Meigas de Honor, Meigas de Honor Infantiles, Board of Directors of the Association of Meigas and the Mayor of La Coruña and Honorary President of the Promoter Commission, Francisco Vázquez who joined some of the acts in the morning.

This sacralized Fire was the one used until last year in which it was prohibited by the municipal government of the tide, to be transferred in showy entourage, escorted by more than a hundred bikes, to the beach of Riazor where it was received by the Meiga Mayor and for the Children's Major Gentleman with him to ignite the Bonfire, created in 1970 by the Commission Promoting the Bonfires of San Juan and now taken away by those who govern the city.
