Today, we have received the sad news of the death, as a result of having contracted COVID 19, of our good friend José Ramón Onega López, Director of the House of Galicia in Madrid and Delgado de la Xunta de Galicia in Madrid.

The relationship with José Ramón Onega, arose in 2015, when both the Association of Meigas, as the Promoting Commission of the Bonfires of San Juan, turned to him so that ceded the Casa de Galicia exhibition hall in Madrid to present a retrospective exhibition on the history of the HOGUERAS Coruña, that year of the declaration of a Festival of International Tourist Interest, being the first and only time that an act of these characteristics was carried out outside of La Coruña.

Of course, we find in José Ramón Onega the best disposition and the manifest desire to lend us his valuable collaboration that, finally, was reflected in reality, opening the aforementioned exhibition.

The following year, 2016, José Ramón Onega delighted us with his knowledge of the traditions of the Galician night of San Juan, reading the proclamation of the HOGUERAS-2016 , receiving, on that occasion, the Silver Thistle from the Bonfires of San Juan that had been awarded months before.

Today, he left us. From here go our condolences, with our most emotional memories and may God our Lord, through the intercession of our Patron Saint, the Lord Saint John, grant your soul eternal rest.

Rest in peace.
