SUCCESS IN THE XIII DANCE BIRTHDAY DANCE CONTEST

04/28/16

With a notable success both in participation, and in public and artistic quality, the XIII Dance Contest of A Noite da Queima was held yesterday at the Centro Cultural Agora, organized by the Meigas Association. School of Dance Carmen; Soniquete (Dance Group of the House of Andalusia); Conservatory of Dance Lyceum La Paz; Presto Vivacce Dance Group; Cinderella Dance School; AC Obradoiro; Danzade School of Dance; Ballet Bainga; Dance Group of the Colegio Cristo Rey; Steps School of Dance; Dance Group of the Raquel Camacho School and Sadanza School.

On this occasion, the event, wanted to pay homage to the immortal figure of D. Miguel de Cervantes in the year that marks the fourth centenary of his death.

This is the first time that the municipal government refuses to give up the Rosalía Castro theater for this activity despite attracting the presence of the largest number of schools in the city. For those of the tide the Contest does not constitute an act of sufficient cultural relevance as those organized by other entities ideologically related to those who govern in Maria Pita and that if they can use the municipal theater.

Although the installation does not meet the ideal conditions for the practice of dance and ballet, the participating Schools supplemented these deficiencies with their know-how that was rewarded with the applause of the numerous attending public.

The evening began with the reading, by the participating Schools, of a manifesto in support of the practice of dance and the Association of Meigas.

The colophon was put by the Meiga Mayor, Belén Ferreiro, and the Child Major, Alba Rodríguez, who gave each one of their memories to all participating schools.
