CANDELA MOSQUERA PEREZ, THE GREATEST MEIGA FOR HOGUERAS-20

Yesterday afternoon, in the rooms of the Sporting Club Casino in La Coruña, the meeting of the Jury of Election of the LI Meiga Mayor was held for BONFIRE- 20 , which was chaired by the General Director of Natural Heritage, Belén Mª Do Campo Piñeiro, with the assistance of some thirty members, all of them women, from different professions, including several Meigas Mayores, Meigas Senior Honorary and Friends of Honor.

Before this Jury, the ten young A Coruña candidates to be elected Meiga Mayor 20 paraded, who presented their videos and answered the questions made by the members of the Jury, before casting their vote.

In this phase of the process, in addition to Candela Mosquera, the young Bárbara Alvarez López participated; Laila González Calvo; Esther González González; Nahir López Rodríguez; Antía Luaces Cotelo; Itziar Naveira Rodríguez; Sara Reboredo Fonte; Sara Rodríguez Morales and Alba Rodríguez Santos.

Shortly before half past seven, the Jury had already issued its verdict, giving the appointment, after a hard competition, to Candela Mosquera Pérez, from A Coruña, 21 years old and a student of Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

At half past eight in the afternoon, in the same setting, the official presentation of the new Meiga Mayor, the Meiga Mayor Infantil and the Meigas de Honor and Meigas de Honor Infantiles from HOGUERAS-20.

The event was attended, along with family, friends and collaborators of the Asociación de Meigas, by the General Chief of the General Staff of the F.L.O .; the Chief General, Commander of the Army Protection Force; the Defense Delegate in Galicia; the Naval Commander of La Coruña; the Colonel Chief of the Aerodrome of Santiago; the Colonel Chief of the Command of the Civil Guard; the Colonel Chief of the General Staff of the FUPRO; the Colonel Director of the Military Historical Museum; Councilors of the Popular and Citizens Group in the City Council and other representations, as well as the 2019 Meiga Mayor Infantil and a large audience.

The event began with the presentation of the Meiga Mayor Infantil 20, the girl Inés Taranilla Vázquez, accompanied by her Meigas de Honor Infantiles Nereida Carrera Díaz; Lola Iglesias Negreira; Carla Olmedo Martínez; Emma Rodríguez Pazos; Lara Rodríguez Santos and Irene Taranilla Vázquez.

At the end of this phase, we proceeded to present the candidates to Meiga Mayor, participants in the process, at which time Jury spokeswoman Laura Rey González, Meiga Mayor was called 2005, who read the act of naming the new Meiga Mayor, Candela Mosquera Pérez.

Both the older and the younger Girlfriends received different gifts.

Next, Candela Mosquera took the floor, thanking in her own name, in that of the Meigas de Honor and Meigas infantil, the appointment of Meigas de las Hogueras de San Juan from A Coruña. . After her, the President of the Association of Meigas took the floor, Mª Concepción Astray, who reviewed the fifty-one years of life of the figure of the Meigas who, she said, are the true driving force of the San Juan coruñes.

The event was closed by the General Director of Patril, Mª Belén Do Campo, who expressed the support of the Xunta de Galicia for this initiative and voted for an unforgettable San Juan- twenty.
