  • The XXXII Poetic Solstice Festival, in exaltation of the XXXVI Meiga Mayor Infantil, will take place on Saturday the 25th, constituting the culmination of the week.
     

  • On the days of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will take place acts of the Coruñesas Cycle that brings together conferences and round tables.

    The Coruñesas Pages Series takes over from the theater in this week’s activities of the Hogueras-2019 program. On this occasion the Cultural Hall of the Sporting Club Casino will be the stage tomorrow (Monday, May 20) at 20:00 hours, of the Conference “History and origin of the Municipal Fire Department of La Coruña “, By José Mª Fernández Caamaño.

    Once again, the Cultural Hall of the Sporting Club Casino will host the Tuesday May 21 , at 20:00 hours, the Conference “Aquella Coruña de la I Meiga Mayor.”, By Carlos Fernández Barallobre. This appointment is framed within the program of the Coruñesas Pages Cycle.

    The Wednesday, May 22 , at 20:30 hours, will take place in the Cultural Hall of the Sporting Club Casino the Conference “From our first bonfire to the First Meiga Mayor”, by José Eugenio Fernández Barallobre. This cultural proposal is also incorporated into the Hogueras-2019 program within the Coruñesas Pages Cycle.

    Thursday May 23 , at 20:00, will take place at the Artisanal Recreational and Instructional Meeting, a round table with the theme “50 Meigas in History”. In it, they will intervene: Rocío Prada Lens (Meiga Mayor 1972); Conchita Astray Gómez (Meiga Mayor 1985): Verónica Pérez Ordáx (Meiga Mayor 1997); Laura Rey González (Meiga Mayor 2005) and Asunción González Campos (Meiga Mayor 2011). Moderator: Nadia Quintela Rodríguez (Meiga Mayor 2010). It is an act programmed within the Coruñesas Pages Cycle.

    Friday, May 24 , at 8:00 pm, the conference “Malignant Bruxas and Meigas benefactoras in the Galician Folklore Tradition” will be held in the Cultural Room of the Sporting Club Casino, by José Manuel Liaño Flores, within the program of the Coruñesas Pages Cycle.

     

    Acts of Exaltation of the XXXVI Meiga Mayor Infantil
    The act that closes the week of activities organized by the 2019 Fires Commission, is the XXXII Poetic Solstice Festival. It will take place in the auditorium of the Eusebio da Guarda Institute , at 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, the 25th.

    This social event that is celebrated every year since 32, constitutes the act of exaltation of the Children’s Meiga Mayor, honor that this year has fallen to Ainhoa ​​Souto .

    A performance of the students of the Conservatory of Music of La Coruña will be responsible for giving the musical touch to this party.
