DISMOUNTING FALACIES

We reproduce, with pleasure, the article sent by Loreto Losada Vales, Meiga de Honor of the HOGUERAS-1985 , that also include in the blog "the dream of a night of San Juan".

"Tired of listening and reading through different means the number of atrocities that have been poured out over the last year against the Meigas, everything around them, the effort, struggle and constancy of all those who have That the festival of San Juan is declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, having been a direct participant of both the San Juan Bonanza Promoting Commission and the Meigas Association, I am quite shocked when I read and listen to expressions and affirmations such as:

1.- Meigas are Women Vase:

It is unjustifiable, at least from my point of view, that in the middle of the 21st century such obsolete and sexist expressions are still used, if not misogynistic, but the most incomprehensible is that the first person who quoted it Been a woman who, as I understand it, proclaims herself ¿¿Feminista ???. And I ask myself: What bases can they have to try to humiliate and disqualify the members of a group without being aware of the socio-cultural environment from which they come, what is their training, or what are their personal and professional concerns …? ? How easy it is to point and humiliate! , But they forget that we all "own our silences and slaves of our words"

2.- Religious Connotations

I do not remember where I read that little more than 70% of Spaniards confess Christians, Catholics, the other scarce 30%, I suppose they will belong to other confessions or are considered Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics. I am grateful to hear some of these Atheists, who do not respect other beliefs, (not all are like this) using expressions such as: "My God", "Jesus", "My Mother", does such exclamations have no connotations Religious I think so, since they refer to God and the Virgin. But apart from this on June 24 is San Juan: San, Santo, therefore like or dislike the San Juan Festivities have a religious basis.

3.- Military Connotations

I sincerely do not know the reason why they say so, but thank God we have a Professional Army whose main mission is to safeguard our Nation, regardless of the political ideologies of each. Would they be the first to resort to the Army if necessary? Or will they defend themselves "alone"?

4.- Members and related to the Bonfires of San Juan are Fascists, Fachas:

We live a few moments in which if you respect the Flag and the Hymn of Spain automatically some you are branded as Fascista, Facha … Personally I consider that the Flag of Spain is a sign of our Nation's Identity as well as the Galician Flag is for Galicia, if it Matizo is because in all the solemn acts organized by the extinguished Promoting Commission of the Hogueras de San Juan and by the current Association of Meigas, always, among others, both Flags are present, just as you hear the Hymn of Spain And the one of Galicia intoning those present there the letter of this last one. I wonder, was Pondal Fascist, Facha?

5.- Cultural Acts are not performed.

Perhaps for them to launch air-raids without any foundation using sometimes soes expressions is synonymous with culture. For me, culture encompasses, Dance, Music, Theater, Conferences … Cultural Cycles that keep alive the Meigas Association.

6.- The Meigas are Girls of Dad and Mom:

They also, since the existence of the human being as an individual person needs the fertilization of an ovum (I will not put to give a class of physiology or biology) but it is imperative the need of man-woman, father-mother, mom; So Dad and Mom is how we address the vast majority to our parents. Will they behave like Meigas as Papas and Mama's Girls because they have reached the shore without knowing how, dragged by a little Tide that seeks to destroy everything that is in its way?

Finally to say that as Meiga de Honor 1985, I have admiration and respect for the brothers Fernández Barallobre, Calín and Cheché, for their capacity for struggle and constancy; As well as by Conchita Astray who is showing great courage and courage.

Thank you very much.
