HAPPY NATIONAL HOLIDAY DAY

Today, October 12, the feast of Our Lady of Pilar, we celebrate the National Holiday.

On October 12, 1492, the expedition led by Christopher Columbus, under the auspices of Dña. Isabel de Castilla and D. Fernando de Aragón, Kings of Spain, reached land on its journey to the Indies, in this way we Spaniards discovered the American continent in the greatest epic in the history of humanity carried out by men.

Also known as “Race Day”, it began to be celebrated in 1935, within the right-wing biennium of the Second Republic, and in 1958 it was regulated as “Hispanic Day”.

In 1987, Law 18/1987, of October 7, established this day as the National Holiday, stating in its preamble that “the chosen date, October 12, symbolizes the historical anniversary in which Spain, about “To conclude a process of building the State based on our cultural and political plurality, and the integration of the Kingdoms of Spain into the same monarchy, begins a period of linguistic and cultural projection beyond European limits.”

Happy National Holiday Day.
Long live Spain!
