HOW SAD! WE ARE NOBODY NOW

Today in the digital newspaper "El Mundo" we read with genuine sadness and indignation an article entitled "Eight Spanish cities where to celebrate the night of San Juan".

"The night of June 23, the eve of the feast of San Juan, is undoubtedly one of the most magical of the year (if not the most). Summer is celebrated in the light of the bonfires throughout Spain with the aim of driving away the evil fario and attracting good luck : the problems disappear burning on the fire during the shortest night of the year. Hence many encourage to practice customs As rooted as throwing the pieces of paper with written desires waiting to be granted , to wet their faces in the sea after midnight to preserve the beauty or to jump the coals, and that any liturgy that serves to fulfill the superstitions has room In the celebration of this ancient popular tradition that combines fire, water and a lot of pyrotechnics. We selected some of the most emblematic places to enjoy it.

Later it gives a brief description of the eight cities to which the article refers that are Alicante; Barcelona; Malaga; Soria (San Pedro Manrique); Cadiz; Cantabria (from where three localities stand out); Lanjarón (Granada) and Santiago de Compostela.

And La Coruña? Where is La Coruña? Curiously, of all the celebrations of San Juan that indicates, only Alicante is declared, like our San Juan, Fiesta of International Tourist Interest; While only San Pedro Manrique (Soria) with its "passage of fire" has the title of national interest.

Regardless of the lack of knowledge and criteria of who signs the article, what has the management of tourism in the city to promote our San Juan? Nothing, absolutely nothing, not in FITUR, nor anywhere else. As we have said so many times are intended to load our San Juan that so many years of effort and work demanded to place it among the best in Spain.

First was what we said about the promotional campaigns of the Vueling Company, now this. It is shameful that what could be a source of wealth for the city has become what is left of it, nothing and everything thanks to the mismanagement of those who govern the city.

We leave the link so that they can verify that we do not miss the truth.
