LITTLE WISDOM

We reproduce the article published yesterday in the digital newspaper "Adiante Galicia", which is author Nacho Louro.

"There is a saying that we often use and often use to express that when we make a mistake, there is always an opportunity to amend it, " to rectify is wise . " When time offers us the possibility of correcting our mistake, but we are unable to do so , Either because our sesera gives no more, or because we knowingly persist in our error driven by a spirit of revenge, we become hopelessly useless or clumsy, or worse, sectarian.

One more year the government of the Atlantic Tide makes the mistake of not inviting the Meigas Association of San Juan Bonfires to the International Tourism Fair -FITUR-, which is celebrated these days in the capital of Spain. They know they are doing wrong and feel pleasure with it. If there is a party that best promotes the tourist image of our city, that is the bonfires of San Juan. And if there is an association with nearly fifty years of dedication, effort and hard work behind their backs, which has boosted and achieved by its own merits that the bonfires of San Juan, feast of all the Coruñeses, has become a holiday of reference, Not only in Galicia, but in the rest of Spain, achieving in 2015 to be declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, that is the Meigas Association. Success of undoubted merit and recognition by institutions inside and outside the city, many local associations and thousands of Coruña. Reality that they will not be able to change, for much effort that some put in wanting to silence and to corner the Meigas. What have they done to deserve this deal?

As I say, a new attempt to silence the Meigas, considered " vase women " by the councilor dizzying equality, which the Mayor, gives " common xente ", refused to receive in the city, to which they are Denied the bread and salt to celebrate many of the almost one hundred cultural, playful and festive public events, collected in their program of celebrations and which were forbidden, because yes, the placement and burning of their traditional sanjuanera fault in the Beach of Riazor, removing them the municipal subsidy that they had been receiving from previous governments. All because the new rulers consider them an association with military and religious connotations, as the mayor once said publicly. Things of ideological sectarianism as I said on another occasion. They show an absolute lack of tolerance with all those who do not think like them. More with an association that has done so much for the image of the city.

And now the councilor of Cultures, announces the plan "Culture of Neighborhood" endowed with € 100,000 for projects of associations – legalized or not – and of groups of the city, in order to contribute to give visibility to everything related to what They call "cultural artistic creation for the benefit of the community" . I have the impression, like many other citizens, that in spite of the competitive competition of which they speak, we are going to find projects selected from groups related to the dizzying ideology. Surely collective such as the squatters of the Command of Works, now called Social Center Okupado A Insumisa, to which the municipal government, responsible for the building, is dispensing an "illegal welfare" by allowing the illegal occupation / cession of the building declared in Ruins and in which public money is being invested to provide a better accommodation for its new residents, who have spent months developing various " cultural activities for the benefit of the community, " such as the seminars under the title, " autonomous sex work ."

Far from rectifying, Ferreiro and his government team persist in their mistake. They show little wisdom. Even so, the Meigas will be present at FITUR next day 20 thanks to the invitation of the Xunta de Galicia, through TurGalicia. A clear recognition of the work, dedication and dedication of the association to ensure that our most emblematic festival today is considered a Festival of International Tourist Interest, with all that that means for the projection, tourism and economy of the city. What better project than this one for La Coruña. What I said, little wisdom. "
