MORE DANCE SCHOOLS THAT IN PREVIOUS EDITIONS CONCURREN THE CERTAMEN

25/04/16 A total of twelve Dance Schools, more than in any other edition, will attend this year the XIII Dance Contest, organized by the Association of Meigas, will be held next Wednesday, the 27th, at 20, 30 hours, at the Agora Cultural Center. In this edition they will participate the following ballets: School of Dance Carmen; Soniquete (Dance Group of the House of Andalusia); Conservatory of Dance Lyceum La Paz; Presto Vivacce Dance Group; Cinderella Dance School; AC Obradoiro; Danzade School of Dance; Ballet Bainga; Dance Group of the Colegio Cristo Rey; Steps School of Dance; Dance Group of the Raquel Camacho School and Sadanza School. Samples of Spanish ballet, regional dance, classical ballet, modern and contemporary, will be staged on this evening. This XIII Contest is dedicated to pay a tribute to the immortal figure of D. Miguel de Cervantes that this year marks the fourth centenary of his death. It is striking that, in a totally arbitrary gesture, the municipal government refuses to concede to the Meigas Association, the Rosalía Castro Theater, citing the lack of cultural interest in the activity, despite the presence of a very important number of Dance centers in the city and when the Agora Center is not specifically prepared to hold ballet evenings. This negative contrast, however, with the cession that the same municipal government has made to other entities, akin to its political currents, for the use of the said theater, alleging the high cultural interest that such events have for La Coruña.
