SAN JUAN-2016 PRIZES FAILED
THE PORT AUTHORITY; THE SAN RAFAEL HEMODIALYSIS UNIT; ANDRES DO BARRO; MARTA BRAÑAS; AZAFRANES BERNARDINO PEREZ AND NONITO PEREIRA REVUELTA, RECEIVE THE SAN JUAN PRIZES 2016.
The Jury of the San Juan Prizes, presided over by Belén Mª Do Campo Piñeiro, in charge of granting the Prizes awarded annually by the Association of Meigas de las Hogueras de San Juan, on behalf of the San Juan Bonanza Promoting Commission, as recognition To the work done by Institutions, Entities and individuals for the benefit of our city, held its traditional meeting after which it announced the ruling for this edition.
On this occasion, the Jury was composed, in addition to its President, by Mª Concepción Astray Gómez, Mª José Cebreiro Santos, Belén Ferreiro López, Lucía Fonte Pampín, Asunción González Campos, Eva Iglesias Fernández, Carlos Fernández Barallobre, José E. Fernández Barallobre, Manuel Ferreiro Regueiro, Julio Flores Pérez, José Luis Martínez Suarez, Nonito Pereira Revuelta, José Peña Bermúdez, Luis Poveda Martín, José Carlos Rivas Bértolo and Alvaro Someso Salvadores.
After a wide deliberation they granted the following awards:
Prize "King Alfonso IX" to the institutional work to the Port Authority.
Prize "Maria Pita" to the citizen values to the San Rafael Hemodialysis Unit.
Prize "Teniente General Fernández Vallespín" to the culture and artistic values to the singer Andres Lapique of the Barro (Andres of the Barro), posthumously.
Prize "Riazor" to the sport to Marta Brañas, champion of Spain of Boxing.
Prize "Marineda" to Coruñesismo, to Nonito Pereira Revuelta.
Prize "Meiga Mayor" to entrepreneurship and innovative effort to the company of Azafranes Bernardino Perez.
All these prizes will be delivered by the XLVII Meiga Mayor, Belén Ferreiro López, during the XLVI Festival of the Poetic Aquelarre, an act of exaltation of the Meiga Mayor and the Meigas de Honor of the HOGUERAS-2016 to be held on the 19th Of the currents, at 20.00 hours, at the Teatro Municipal Rosalía Castro.
Likewise, the Organizing Committee of the HOGUERAS-2016 , awarded "Cardo de Oro" in its modality of collective to La Voz de Galicia and El Ideal Gallego; "Thistle of Silver" in this same modality to the Chain COPE and "Thistle of Bronze", also collective, to the School of Dance Carmen.
On the other hand, in recognition of his work to safeguard the essences and traditions of the night of San Juan in our city, "Cardo de Plata", in its individual modality, Belén Ferreiro López, Meiga Mayor-2016; José Ramón Onega López, Delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Madrid; Lucía Canabal Pérez, Councilor of the City Council; Miguel García Santiago, Lieutenant Colonel of Engineers; Miguel Cancio Alvarez, university professor; Carmen Mª No Varela, Meiga de Honor 1995; Eva Iglesias Fernández, COPE journalist; Laura García Vera-Alvarez, choreographer; Ricardo Couto, President of the Alcoa-Inespal Choir; Guadalupe Teuntor, soprano, and Juan Mª Santos Gayoso (Napoleon), President of the Quarantine.
These awards will be given in the celebrations of exaltation of the major and children Meigas, to celebrate the days 19 and 21 of the currents.
