TEXT OF THE COMMUNICATION READ BY THE SCHOOLS PARTICIPATING IN THE DANCE CONTEST

Before the beginning of the XIII Dance Contest of A Noite da Queima, with the curtain lowered, the Directors of the twelve participating Schools read the following statement:

"As representatives of 1,540 young Coruñesas who, in addition to their studies and their work, dedicate their free time to the practice of dance in all its variants, classical, modern, contemporary, Spanish, regional, etc., we do not understand the position of the Municipal government not to give us, as it has been customary for thirteen years, the Rosalía Castro Theater for the celebration of this Dance Ceremony of A Noite da Queima, when we are aware that other Entities, with less impact on cultural life and quantitative representation That ours, if they have enjoyed that privilege.

We believe that the different Administrations have the duty to promote dance as a cultural medium of expression, supporting their practice and giving them the facilities that meet the essential requirements for their practice.

Finally, we want to show our support to the Association of Meigas de los Hogueras de San Juan, for its cultural vocation, especially in defense of dance, and for the preservation of traditions in our city. "
