THE MEIGAS ASSOCIATION INVITED TO FITUR BY TURGALICIA

The President of the Association of Meigas de los Hogueras de San Juan has received, today, the invitation from TurGalicia to attend the presentation of the Festivals of International and National Tourist Interest held in Galicia that will take place , On the 20th, at 13.00 hours, at the Galician Pavilion of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), at the Juan Carlos I fairgrounds in Madrid.

It was the Association of Meigas who requested and achieved in 2014, supported by the then City Council of La Coruña, the declaration of Fiesta of International Tourist Interest, as in 2000 and in 2003 had made the Promoter Commission who obtained for the San Juan Coruña the statements Of Galician Fiesta of Tourist Interest and Fiesta of National Tourist Interest, respectively.

Both the Promoter Commission, first, and the Meigas Association, later, are the only two Entities of the city that have been working altruistically for forty-eight years for the celebration of the CORUÑEZ HOGUERAS and that, last year, In an incomprehensible act of revanchismo and sectarianism, by the simple fact of not thinking like them, were separated of the organization of the sanjuaneras holidays by the Town council of the tide, receiving no subsidy some, in spite of organizing almost a hundred acts of character Public, nor the pertinent permits to burn the traditional Bonfire, something that, however, if they could do the rest of the Coruñeses who so wished.

With this invitation, the Xunta de Galicia recognizes the work done by those who have dedicated most of their lives to enhance and dignify the celebration of the HOGUERAS of La Coruña.
