THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF THE SAN JUAN DE LA CORUÑA BONFIRES ELECTS THE MAJOR MEIGA FOR THE BONFIRES-24

Today, Saturday the 24th, the Organizing Commission of the Bonfires of San Juan de La Coruña, will choose the young woman who, in the near future, will be proclaimed LIV Meiga Mayor of the HOGUERAS-24, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, which will culminate with the celebration of “a Noite da Queima”, on the Night of San Juan.

This act of election of the Meiga Mayor will be held in the Culture Room of the Sporting Club Casino of La Coruña (C/ Real, 83), where a jury will be formed made up of thirty people from different professions, as well as Meigas Mayores, Children’s and Honor Senior Meigas from past editions; They are in charge of evaluating the profile of each of the candidates to finally choose the Meiga Mayor 24.

Both the Meiga Mayor and her Meigas de Honor, as well as their children’s namesakes, with the XL Meiga Mayor Infantil, Carmen Lorenzo García-Barros, at the head, will represent the Organizing Commission of the Hogueras de San Juan in the different events that are part of the HOGUERAS-24 program that will begin in the first decade of next May, lasting until the end of June.

Among the activities that the Meigas-24 will preside over, the Poetic Solstice and Coven Festivals stand out; the Festa da Danza das Meigas; the Tribute to the Flag; the Tribute to the A Coruña Woman and the central events that will take place on June 23 and 24, in which we hope that the brilliance of previous editions will be recovered.

The approximate time of official presentation of the Meiga Mayor 2024 will be at 9:00 p.m.
