TODAY IS HELD THE XLVI PARTY OF AQUELARRE POETICO, EXALTING THE MEIGA MAYOR 2016

ACTS FOR TODAY, MAY 19

At 20.00 hours on Thursday, March 19, the Rosalía Castro Municipal Theater will be the setting for the forty-sixth edition of the Feast of the Poetic Aquelarre, an act of exaltation of Belén Ferreiro López as Meiga Mayor of the HOGUERAS -2016 , declared Fiesta of International Tourist Interest.

In this act, the Meiga Mayor, will be accompanied by her Meigas de Honor Laura Amigo Barbeito; Lucía Aba González; Carmen Fragoso Gundín; Miranda Barboza Ordóñez; María Gende Piñuelo; Sara Reboredo Fonte; Cristina Gestal López and Ana Souto Páez.

The Festival, presented by Asunción González Campos, Meiga Mayor 2011, and Patricia Méndez Arcay, Meiga de Honor 2000, will begin with the performance of the Dance School Carmen who will present a choreography in homage to the immortal D. Miguel de Cervantes, acting later The Corals CS Sagrada Familia; Oleiros; Fonte do Souto and Aires Novos de Pravio that will interpret the Pasodoble Meiga Mayor.

At the end of the parade of honor of the Meigas, the Meiga Mayor, will award the "San Juan-2016" Awards, which in this edition deserved, according to the jury presided over by Belén Mª Do Campo Piñeiro, the Port Authority; The San Rafael Hospital Hemodialysis Unit; Singer Andrés Do Barro, posthumously; The boxer Marta Brañas; The firm Azafranes Bernardino Sánchez and Nonito Pereira Revuelta.

Next, the Meiga Mayor, will deliver the "Cardos de Orto", in its modality of collectives to the Voice of Galicia and The Galician ideal; "Cardo de Plata", also collective to the Chain Cope; "Cardo de Broncez" also collective to the School of Dance Carmen and "Cardo de Plata" individual to Belén Ferreiro López, Meiga Mayor-2016, which will be imposed by the President of the Meigas Association, Mª Concepción Astray; José Ramón Onega López, Delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Madrid; Lucía Canabal Pérez, Councilwoman; Miguel García Santiago, Lieutenant Colonel of Engineers; Miguel Cancio Alvarez, university professor; Carmen Mª No Varela, Meiga de Honor 1995 and Eva Iglesias, COPE journalist.

The literary brooch will be put by the Delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Madrid, José Ramón Onega López, who will read the proclamation of the Festival that is also the HOGUERAS-2016.

The Feast of the Poetic Aquelarre will conclude with the traditional tribute to La Coruña, presented by the Meigas de Honor and the Child Major, Alba Rodríguez Santos, accompanied by the Meigas de Honor Infantiles.
