LETTER OF ACCESSION OF THE FUCC COMMERCIAL ASSOCIATIONS FEDERATION

We are pleased to reproduce the letter sent to us by the Federation of Commercial Associations of the city of A Coruña Trade Union of Corunna FUCC, in which it says the following:

"The Federation of Trade Associations of the city of A Coruña Union of Commerce Coruñesa FUCC, RECOGNIZES the work carried out by the MEIGAS ASSOCIATION OF THE HOGUERAS OF SAN JUAN DE LA CORUÑA, successor of the Association Promoting Commission of the Bonfires of S Juan who with the difficulties that he has had to face throughout his career, from economic difficulties, material, and lack of collaborating personnel, has carried out a commendable work that among others has made possible that A Coruña has been Named for the feast of St. John throughout the world.

We consider that this party as conceived by its promoters for more than 45 years, is at least at the level, if not above other parties such as the faults of Valencia where their falleras and falleras children date as of 1929, and that Are already part of the Valencian tradition. Some may dismiss it as Castrense, others as Religious, but it is not far from other exaltations with so much or more tradition, and is now part of our local culture. San Juan was the patron saint of the city from the first century until after the attack on the city of English troops commanded by Drake, on May 4, 1589, the enemy fleet arrived at the beach of Oza; Fearful, the notables of the city made a promise: if they were liberated from the invasion, they would forever thank the Virgin of the Rosary and from there was appointed patroness to the Virgin of the Rosary, but it was always a feast, which in other cultures Could coincide with that of the summer solstice, which never ceased to be held in the city.

Certainly the acts they promote are not the only ones, it is true that the beach party transcends the events programmed by the said Association, that the sardines in the streets, promoted by the hotel establishments of the city, have nothing to do either With them, but one thing does not work well without the other, and if there was not the fault and the fault was not ignited by the Greater Gentleman there would be no compelling reason to go to Riazor. Thirty years ago, there was already a party in Riazor but there was no fault, and there was no clear nucleus that transcended.

The Meigas Association of the Bonfires of St. John have achieved, if you want to call not only be Fiesta Fiesta of National Tourist Interest (2003) but also Fiesta of International Tourist Interest (2015). It is possible that everyone does not like the style of their activities, but this Federation, as representative of almost all the commercial associations of A Coruña, we are interested in that events such as this that enhance the city are created, that the Projected to the greatest possible scope and be included in the tourist circuits , so as to increase both the commercial potential of the city and consequently the economic potential of all its inhabitants .

Not only do we agree and we ask for there to be economic support from the public administrations, but above all , let those who are getting a clear benefit for the city be allowed to act, allowing the use of public spaces that far from annoying greatly benefit the Population .

A Coruña, May 10, 2016.

The Board of Directors ".

Many thanks.
