OFFER OUR LADY OF SOLITUDE

We reproduce the text of the offering that, today, presented the Greater Mother, Belén Ferreiro, before the image of Our Lady of Soledad, in the church of the Third Order.

"One more year we gathered before Our Lady of Solitude to convey our most sincere respect and our deepest anxieties.

However, this time we go before her, perhaps with faces that do not give off as much joy as before, with an endless number of preoccupations in our mind and needing to recover the illusion with which, traditionally we met in this Church to celebrate together the beginning of our Large week

These are difficult times for all those who have believed and who believe in this project and that we find in the celebration of the San Juan a means to altruistically give ourselves to others and collaborate so that the citizens of A Coruña can enjoy the great cultural heritage of our land . At present, however, the impossibility of launching our most important activities makes it even more necessary for Our Lady to enlighten our path with a more intense light that can guide us in this difficult challenge that we must experience.

We are aware that, as it is transmitted to Catholics in the parable of the grain of wheat, it is impossible to give to others without cost, to give themselves in comfort, just as when the grain of wheat falls on the earth, Necessarily, it will have to rot so that the fruit can be born. Nevertheless, we are sure that such difficulties will not be insurmountable if we count on our side with Our Lady of Solitude and, as it could not be otherwise, with Saint John the Baptist.

Therefore, in the name of not only the Meigas of the Bonfires 2016, but of all those Meigas who have had the opportunity to occupy this beautiful position in our city during its almost 50 years of history, I would like to ask, first of all Place by the San Juan, so that it does not lose the true essence that corresponds to it: the opportunity for all the Coruñeses to meet to celebrate our great party and stop being considered a throwing weapon destined to impose individual interests, so that it continues being of all , Without distinction and tolerance in its celebration reign again and serve to unite and build together.

Finally, I would also like to ask for all those people who are no longer with us and who, unfortunately, will not be able to accompany us physically in the celebration of the Bonfires 2016, so that wherever they are, they know how to send their strength in these difficult moments for us.
